New Blog: Ouch, That's Going To Leave A Mark!

Sick of riding hurt, or worse yet, being sidelined by injuries? Well, your friendly P.T., Laura Cooper, is hanging out at the Chainlink with a little advice and some tips to help you ride without those nagging aches and pains. I am here to share a little knowledge and offer my two cents worth if you have any queries or questions. This first post is a little long, but my philosophy of treatment is not one dimensional. Future posts will be sleeker, like your dream road bike. Scroll down if… Continue

Carrying junk on the cheap

To many who know me, I'm an eccentric bike geek. I love wrenching as much as riding my bikes, and can often be found geeking it up with other bike nerds in the "Bicycling" forum on Craigslist. Lately, with gas being as expensive as it has been, I've been working on eliminating the car for the few trips it was designated for around town. That goal, along with my insane need to build things has led to a couple of projects I just thought I'd share, since perhaps someone else might be interested in… Continue

The South Shore Kids' Tri

On Saturday morning I did a quick ride down to the South Shore Country Club with Tamara, and as we got close to the Museum of Science and Industry we saw the cutest thing: the South Shore Kids' Triathlon. We rode through while the 7-10 division was racing, and it was so cool to see these little kids pedaling their hearts out on their mini mountain bikes, then later running and obviously exhausted. I wish we could have stayed and watched… Continue

6 Double makers and a pretzel tire

I figured out Saturday night if you're ME, have 6 double Maker's and a glass of wine, you will crash your bike....

But the best thing about being wasted and crashing is you don't hurt yourself because your body is so loose from being obliterated you just roll up onto your feet and go "what the fuck was that??!" then remember you're hungry.

How I Deal With Car Doors...

Now typically, as in pretty much always, wisdom and skill is bestowed upon me by those who are smarter, more experienced, more worldly, more talented, and just plain better than me. But today my friends; TODAY I get to give back. Today I will bestow upon you a gift from my bag of goodies. Ladies, gentlemen, and Garvey...I present to you…THE DE-DOORING URBAN-BIKER SIDEKICK.

Allow me to explain…

I have spent most of my life practicing martial arts. I have formally studied… Continue
