cheap way to increase your night-time visibility

Brinkmann Go-LED waterproof mini-lights. They twist on/off. Package says they're good for 170 hours. I'll see about that. $5 for a pack of 4 at Target.

One package of 8" Scotch Bundling Straps. They're velcro so they're easily removable for high-crime areas. $3 for a pack of 6 at Target.

Electrical tape. This was just laying around the house so I don't know how much it costs. $2???

Tape the velcro thingies on the back of the light thingies. It'll look like a watch. I was almost tempted to wear it as such. Then use the velcro thingies to attach the light thingies to your spokes. Now you are safe!!! Total cost of increased side visibility: $8 or so.

I put one on each wheel, one on my handlebars as a headlight, and one near my rear reflector under my seat (although I don't think I'll leave it there). I took my bike for a test drive around the neighborhood. All the neighborhood kids were like "Nice bike!!!" cuz the lights make it look pretty cool (or ridiculous, depending). I felt "special" and was laughing the entire time at everyone staring at my bike, but the cars stayed far, far away from me, and that's kinda the point.

i'm not sure if they'd fit in the ends of handlebars. they seem like they'd be a little big, although i haven't measured the diameter....
