Chicago has a dandy, new Bike Share Program.

It has dozens of miles of new "Protected" Bike Lanes

with 100s of new bike commuters cruising the streets.

But Chicago no longer has a City Bike Coordinator.

And since Ben Gomberg "resigned" several weeks ago,

there hasn't been a peep from "Hizonner" about his replacement.

Or will the position go the way of the Department of the Environment

and the Three Toed Sloth?

I should apply...

+1 That's a good suggestion! Anyone else want the job or have a candidate?  I have a few in mind ...

Why? So you, too, can be downgraded, diminished, reduced and given smaller and smaller rolls and eventually quit yourself?

i still need a job...

Uh ... h' $550 (you hipster punk) ... "absorbed into Gabe Klein's" ... what exactly? But on a serious note, does anyone out there care if the position is held hostage to the whim of the current mayor, lacking any institutional foundation to sustain it through each mayoral administration? And don't we still have a Pedestrian Coordinator? Why hasn't she been "absorbed"?

+1: Given your entrepreneurial achievements in the beverage area I believe you'd make a great addition to City Hall ...

Good question.  According to Streetsblog, "...day-to-day operations of the bike program... are now largely supervised by CDOT Project Director Janet Attarian."

Anne, I nominate you for the permanent bikey position since Ms. Attarian seems more of a pedy person!

I appreciate the vote of confidence.  ;)

Any other candidates (since we want this to appear on the up and up)?
