Defense attorneys get paid by the hour, so they benefit from delays.

The prosecution attorneys are paid a salary and will do whatever it takes, no matter how long, in order to get a "guilty" verdict.

That's the point, when it's in their client's best interests.  And when it's the prosecution, it's often to ensure a conviction, or due to the realities of staffing.  They're not doing it because they feel like going to the beach instead of work next Wednesday.

(Is anyone going?  Is anyone still following this story?)

Is anyone going?  Is anyone still following this story?

Not going, but definitely still interested.

I wonder if we should have a single (sticky?) thread to track all court proceedings involving cycling crashes. That would perhaps give similar/better exposure to all active proceedings. I'm thinking, in particular, of the Hector Avalos case:

http://www.thechainlink.org/forum/topics/hector-avalos-courtroom-up...

I don't remember where I heard of this case, but it certainly seems to have fallen off the radar screen. I haven't been following it like the Bobby Cann case. The last update on that thread was about a year ago.

Here's the latest news on the Avalos case:
