Who to contact regarding placing non skid plates on metal bridge?

Who do I contact in order to have non skid metal plates on the bridge at 24th and Loomis St. ( the intersection of the South Branch of the Chicago River and Loomis St.)? This bridge is dangerous for cyclists when it's wet.

Yes correct! The plates on Chicago bridges for cyclists are affectionately named after our very own, Kathy Schubert.

Contact CDOT, and you could also ask the alderman in that area for his assistance.

It'd be cute if it was the dog. My dog has a street named after him (Shakespeare)

I will be there in a support capacity for some friends and all runners. I'm there for every marathon. I'm not running, but if I was in a more improved health situation I would be running. Cycling is my activity now. So again, get green, go run and see you there.

I tweeted your post to CDOT on Twitter. I'll let you know if I hear anything back. 

It looks like the alderman for that location is Daniel Solis.  Maybe his website has a service request form (I can't access his website at my office).

You are so right.  I cross that bridge all the time.  It's especially tough if it's wet.  I have to confess that I often stay on the sidewalk.  Somehow that bridge has always been tougher than the one on Halsted.  Maybe the grating is a little more course or something.

At last fall's MBAC meeting, it was announced that they plan to add the non-skid metal plates to the Loomis bridge THIS YEAR. I don't have a time frame. Will follow up on this.

I finally got some news on the Loomis bridge over the South Branch.  Good news: according to CDOT, they have decided to do concrete infill for better durability, instead of plates.  This would be similar to the Harrison bridge near the main post office. That's been in place for years and it's held up very well. It's a good non-skid surface.

Not as good news: it is unlikely to happen this year.  Because Loomis is a functioning drawbridge and modifications to the bascule bridge and its counterweights need to be made to maintain function, the design process is much more complex than it would be for plates. The project is currently in the design phase now and might not start until next year due to the complexity of accommodating the added weight of the concrete.
