Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)
My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.
Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane
With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming
#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)
#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.
We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

Here are a few easy things you can do to help keep bike lanes free from snow and ice:
Call 311 and report the issue. Or file a report online. This will create a record and enable CDOT, or other relevant agencies, to follow-up with the request. There is even a special report category for reporting snow in a bike lane or at a Divvy station.
Take a photo and document the situation. You can share good and bad photos of snow removal on social media using #ChicagoShovels, which the city is encouraging residents to use. Send it along to Active Trans, too, and we'll share our favorites.
Be an ambassador. If you know of a resident or business that’s clearing snow into a bike lane, try engaging them in a friendly conversation about the importance of keeping bike lanes clean during winter months.
Bonus points: Ask your alderman or local chamber of commerce what kind of snow removal outreach they’ve done in your neighborhood and encourage them to consider the needs of people who bike in their outreach messages to residents and businesses.
So he parked in an active lane of traffic without flashing lights, advance warning signs, etc.
When it comes to things like this, the bike lane should be treated as any other lane of traffic. It shouldn't matter if it is an automobile or bicycle.
Yeah, this lane on Broadway is especially bad northbound between Montrose and Lawrence. I'm not on it that much, (maybe twice a week?), but when I am there's almost always someone blocking it.
I would have different people reporting this one on a regular basis until it's fixed.
That's very dangerous!
Use the SeeClickFix app, it will allow you to send a picture and GPS location during the report.
Our thread is featured in a DNAinfo article this morning. I'm glad to see this issue receiving visibility to bring about more awareness of the safety issue of obstacles in the bike lanes.
DOWNTOWN — Attorney Andy Moss rides his bike 20 miles roundtrip from his Oak Park home to his office Downtown almost every weekday of the year.
He loves that his preferred routes of Washington Boulevard, Madison Street and Lake Street all have dedicated bike lanes. There's just one problem with each of his treks: There is always something parked in those lanes.
"By causing me to ride outside the bike lane, it creates a danger for me, but it also creates a danger for drivers and slows down traffic for everybody," Moss said.
