I'm creepd out - when was this taken? The girl with the white helmet back there looks vaguely like me? But... I don't think I recognize/remember riding around all those people. It's possible if it were taken at rush hour on Tuesday... also YAY! :) I rode it and it's smooth and nice again. Lovely.
That would be hilarious if it was you! If you rode it, then there is a good chance. Do you have a red helmet?

nope - I have a white helmet, I mean the one in the WAY back. If only the bike frame was showing a little bit!
oh....
What about the other end of Milwaukee? Lawrence north to Elston? The "Road Diet" plans, the protected bike lanes?
Is any news or information about this coming out? There were two meetings but there doesn't seem to be any more information available.
I haven't heard anything in a while about this project. I would like to know the status also.

I've heard precious little. The development all seems to be happening in the core areas and the outlying parts of the city where real progress can be made seem to be dropping off. I'm not sure if it's an aldermanic thing or a City Hall thing, but it's depressing. I can't say I've found a more inhospitable 2.5 mile ride than I've been finding from Portage Park to Mayfair.
I just responded on a thread on Everyblock where someone was soliciting cyclists for helping make 6 Corners more bike friendly, and it immediately devolved into a cyclist bashing thread. Couple that with the "no parklet for you Austin/Irving, we need our 2 parking spaces", and I'm beginning to realize that we need organization on the NW side, pronto. Anyone else in for a brainstorming session?

I went to one of these meetings, I can't say what the outcome was. The city will do what they have planned, what I gathered was it was about 50-50 for and against road diet. I'm not sure what I even want. I do not think a road diet is that good of an idea due to the traffic during peak hours. I do think it needs to be more pedestrian friendly and have more ped ways and/or stoplights by Andy's.
