Next time you're pedaling from downtown to Wicker Park or Lincoln Park, you might try a stealth route I recently stumbled upon, hugging the east side of the Chicago River, traveling underneath the old Montgomery Ward complex and even through the Chicago Avenue bridge house, where you can see the huge yellow gears of the lifting mechanism. A virtual tour of the route is up on Grid Chicago:

Keep moving forward,

cool...thanks
Sure thing - let me know what you think of the route.
I got to try this someday. It may be a nice alternative to the chaos in front of the 600 West office building.
Nice! It looks like my new route around that whole Halsted bridge repair mess.
We rode way too fast to enjoy it so I'll have to ride it again. This Friday maybe?
+1!!!
Tie it in from a Kinzie track approach?

New way down from WP to the Plaza before CM?
you will have to carry your bike out of it tho, stairs are the only way out that im aware of, near the marina, unless something changed since ive been there last.
There's a ramp just north of the townhouse labeled 1017 N.

Just got back from the route...found out about the stairs and where I needed to go.
I have some video footage of my ride that I'll post as soon as I eat and edit. :)
