What's this doing in the bike lane?

Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-) 

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Is the car in the lower right corner of the picture also parked in the bike lane?

Ugh. I also hate when I see drivers do that. Or park in a bike lane with a legal spot a couple car lengths down the block.

I called 911 today. I waited 5 minutes, but no squad showed up. I'm curious if they eventually arrived.

I like these latest photos in that it makes it clear what's been done wrong here that's causing the problem. They stop the yellow curb paint and have a no parking sign with the arrow pointing only to the right. they need to paint the curb yellow out to the actual start of the bike lane (& beyond?) and put arrows facing both directions on the sign. If one were ambitious enough, I think a can of yellow spray paint and a red triangle sticker could probably remedy this persistent misinterpretation.

It's still doesn't excuse the mindset of someone that thinks that's a legal spot to when they're half in the bike lane. The contractor was pretty lazy with the sign and paint though, too.

I agree... It really isn't clear that this is a bike lane.  The dashed lines really don't make sense, they usually indicate a lane crossing a bike lane.

I think this needs to be re-painted and clearer signs need to be posted.

Ideally a green lane could be painted or perhaps a bicycle symbol on the pavement.

It's clear the car doesn't fit against the curb, though. Hopefully some more yellow paint is easy enough to get 311 or the alderman's office to do something.

I have been reporting these through the 311 Service Request (including a link to the pictures when I have them) and I just got an email from Mike Amsden, the Assistant Director of Transportation Planning, which indicates they are looking into the problem at this location. Yay!

What the h*ll do I have to do to get the police interested in getting these a-holes out of the bike lane? I've called 311. I've emailed the alderman's office. I've called 911. Do I have to take matters into my own hands?
