Carter O'Brien replied to Yasmeen's discussion The Church on Sundays Argument Against Bike Lanes

Carter O'Brien replied to Vilda's discussion Think of this as a Missed Connection.
"In this case, cyclists have actually been given bike lanes. There is absolutely no justifiable concerned-for-ones-safety reason for a cyclist to ever ignore a school crossing guard. You are supposed to stop, period. Obviously cars are the bigger…"

"The idea that the cholera outbreak was on a scale like the bubonic plague is indeed a myth, but it is unquestionable that Chicago sending its sewage directly into the source of its drinking water led to smaller outbreaks of it. That and the filth…"

Tricolor replied to Carter O'Brien's discussion Active Trans survey on proposed river trail connection between Belmont & Diversey
"I've been thinking there should be a light rail line along there headed to town for commuters, too. If everyone expected to move in along the river tried to drive it'd be a real mess. Before it's all done is the time to put in transit."

What brings you to The Chainlink?
I've been here forever, it's the "back of the bus" where all the cool cyclists go.
About me:
I'm 47, and have been an avid cyclist in the City since at least 4th grade. I now live just SE of Belmont & Kimball.

Having spent 95% of my life between Diversey & Belmont on the north side (lived first around the Elbo Room, then Diversey & Damen) has given me a pretty time-tested perspective on the challenges of heading straight east to the Lakefront as well as those using the Elston or Milwaukee (or hybrid routes) for my commute over the past 14 years to the Field Museum.
