I work for Specialized Bicycles and will be in Chicago next week. 

I'd love to chat with a few bike commuters to better understand the commute scene in the city.

Second Career Best. 
This December was Super Mild here as I Racked up 687 miles.
My Fun Miles were way off this year
In the Beginning of December I was Contemplating cutting back on commuting.
I've change my Vitamin Regiment, Eating better Sleeping More and 
Trying not to take life so serious.
I'll be 56 next year. I still love my single speeds. 
If I can't ride my SS it would be as enjoyable.

Couple other Stats
out of 6111 commuter miles a little better than 6000 was on a SS
December miles- 687
December trips- 48

In spite of a pretty rough year, I still racked up 2713.6 miles, plus or minus a few miles. :-P

Of those, about 85-90% are commuting miles (the rest are Bike the Drive, the 4-Star Tour, a 73 mile day to Sycamore I'd rather forget, etc.) so I'll call it 2,300 miles even.

I'm at 6,740 miles in 2011. Going for 7,000 before the end of the year. I'm sure Michael A is at 10,000+ miles for the year.

Norm, atta boy on the commuter miles.  Like ambimb, I'm over 4k commuting.  It's a lot of Advil too.  : )

Good lord, Norm, that's a lot of miles! I was pretty proud of my 4k and counting for the year but I see I have nothing to brag about. Can anyone top 6529 for 2011?

Just rode the lakeshore trail nortbound from downtown for the first time in a while yesterday--looks like they just finished repaving the December storm damage near North Ave and are set to fix up the stretch up near Fullerton.  Better news for rollerbladers, true, but nice all the same.
