The Chainlink

Tomorrow, Tuesday, July 12th - the trial for the bike thieves as discussed earlier:

Skokie Courthouse - Room 105, 1:30 PM

A bike ride up the North Branch Trail, runs right by Old Orchard Road where the courthouse is located.

Beware of the usual restriction of what you can carry inside the building, but do wear a helmet and look like a bike rider supporting the prosecution.

This seemed to be changing and getting more detailed as I was just searching, so the info may be VERY recent:

I think all 3 are somewhere here:

Catena & Torres in Division II, Roberson listed as "HLD" (holding cell waiting for permanent cell?)

Three ugly mugs:

Robertson

Catena

Torres

10 PM: Robertson's housing location just switched from "HLD" to Division 2 with his other pals.

Yup, found him this time.

Happy Anniversary Kenny! Tomorrow (10 12/12) will be 9 months in the Cook County Department of Corrections.

I love knowing he's in jail ;-)

Did anyone else remember that Saturday was the one year anniversary?

So what exactly happens during these court dates?

Glad to see he's still in!

My guess is not much, and I would be surprised if Kenny's making the trip for each of them. I still think his defense attorney is probably waiting long enough to be able to plead him to "time served" on a sentencing offer from the State's Attorney Office. I would defer to any criminal defense attorney who might be able to provide some guidance on how long setting a trial date can be continued. Over a year in 26th & California seems like a pretty long time to be held in what is essentially a "short term facility."

The Illinois Department of Corrections knows:

If the case is still pending and the defendant is in custody at 26th street they load them on a bus and bring them to the courthouse for every hearing.  Unless the defendant demands trial (that is a term with a legal meaning in the criminal code) these things can go on for a long time.  Kevin is probably right--just wants to enter a plea when he can get time served as the sentence.

My understanding from some folks around my neighborhood is that it's actually pretty common for folks to be in the holding area for longer than a year.
