Typically the clubs would defer to our advocacy organization and have the courtesy not to schedule an event on the same day. Makes the Evanston Bike Club look really bad . . .
Unless there's some piece I don't know, like maybe Active Trans moved the BLT date after the NSC date was set?
The EBC scheduled the North Shore early to avoid having it on some jew holiday.
If you want to do a similar route to the NSC, the CCC/EBC is putting on the Slower Century on August 23:
"Back again this year, this is a century for those who haven't done one, and would like to but are daunted by the distance. Led by Art Gilfand, it starts in Evanston and will tour through the Northern suburbs. The pace is intended to allow those who haven't done 100 miles to finish. The ride leader requests that you RSVP so he can get a headcount for the SAG vehicle. If you feel strong enough for a century ride, but don't feel like riding at really fast speeds all day, this is the ride for you. We will be riding between 15 and 18 mph with two rest stops in each direction and a lunch break at the Kenosha Velodrome, the north end of the ride. Jim Kreps will provide SAG service and act as your caterer. We will have food, energy bars, cookies, drinks and lunch plus bike supplies for common bike mishaps. Road bikes are recommended. All surfaces are paved and it is the type of ride best suited for road bikes. We will leave from the Chandler Community Center located at 1028 Central Street in Evanston. You can take the CTA Purple Line Train to the Central Street station. If you drive, there is street parking on Lincoln. There is a $16 charge for this ride for food and SAG vehicle fuel costs, payable at the ride start to the ride leader, it is appreciated if you could bring the correct change. This ride is a joint event with the Evanston Bike Club. The ride leaves promptly at 7:00 AM and expect to return between 5:00 and 6:30 PM "
Rosh HaShanah: 19 September 2009 (Saturday)
The NSC would normally have been 20 September 2009. I think Rosh HaShanah starts at sundown on Saturday and end sundown on Sunday. envane x said:The EBC scheduled the North Shore early to avoid having it on some jew holiday.
