OK, so there aren't any, but shouldn't there be? Is the cost of these announcements more than the cost of the injuries / work lost time / lives lost? Does anyone have an idea of how to get something like this off the ground?

Perhaps some communications or video production student/s can make some well produced youtube videos as an example?

What other public service announcements should be presented?

I did this post about right hooks with a video I found from Boston on 9-11-15

There's a lot of good info in the video that Tom posted. I'd like to add something to it. Since I often ride on the south side in areas where I may encounter 18 wheelers, I DO pay attention to a sticker I've noticed many times. If you are beside or behind a big truck and can't see the driver's face in the mirror, the driver can't see you.

If a driver is overtaking you, turning your head slightly and waving at them to indicate that you see them may get their attention so that they see you.  I have used this technique in many different locations and situations and it usually works.

Please don't get me wrong and think that I'm into victim blaming. I'd rather share info we can use to protect ourselves from getting injured or killed in crashes.

Truck (lorries) & cycling safety video. There are more.

League of Illinois Bicyclists has this video.  At the 2:25 mark is when they talk about right hook.

Setting up a Public Service Announcement program is no easy task, but if you can find someone to do it, go for it.

You will need to do one announcement at a time: right hook, dooring, etc. Then you need to do one each for TV, one for radio and one for print. Within each set you have to do 10-send, 15-second and 30-second lengths for each, different sizes for print and different column-widths for newspapers.

You cannot post them on youtube, you need to create the broadcast ones - all different lengths - at a downloadable site or include them with your pitch (takes a lot of memory) of a DVD or flash drive. Then you have to get a good, current media list to select the media outlets that you want to send them to.

Package all this up into a packet with a well written letter explaining why this is a great idea and worth airing or printing in available time or space. Pay for materials, packaging and postage and send it out with the knowledge that less than ten percent of the media outlets will respond.

Good luck.
