I'm a part of a volunteer cultural committee putting on a big concert and rally for Chuy Garcia next Sunday, March 29, at Alhambra Palace downtown Chicago. I am still in need of a few additional volunteers:

It gave me the impression that, in re: bike lanes, BRT, and road diets, Chuy's thinking boils down to "Let the NIMBY's win"

Unfortunately, that's the impression I'm getting as well.

I read that he wants neighborhoods and real people to have input. That can be flawed (hi Berteau Greenway - on which I worked), but it's a better way to do government when more than half of the city is disenfranchised. Trust is gone in many areas of the city.

As Mayor, I will prioritize projects that improve the most dangerous intersections and corridors in the city.

I WILL also support continuing to expand the city's network of protected bike lanes and neighborhood bike routes to fill in gaps and provide safe access to all parts of the city.

Right, it's nice that he added that, but it's phrased so generally that no one could disagree with it. That generality, combined with his hedging in the above linked interview, doesn't inspire any confidence that he'll have the political courage to do anything that will anger any drivers (or parkers) at all, and all changes to the streetscape will anger someone.

In fact, the only specific plan Garcia has put forward with respect to pedestrians or cyclists is to reduce the level of enforcement against reckless drivers.

Not to reduce the level of enforcement, but to REDO the current unfair system and make it fair and even-handed.

How has he proposed replacing the enforcement conducted by all the cameras he has promised to shut down? 

Agreed. I am not looking for someone that supports bike lanes. I am looking for someone that will lead the expansion of bikelanes. There's a big difference.
Duppie, you are twisting and misquoting text above from candidate Garcia. He said, "I WILL support and continue to EXPAND the city's network of protected bike lanes and neighborhood bike routes to fill in gaps and provide safe access to all parts of the city."

If you want to quote someone, please try to be fair and even-handed, and accurate.
You do realize that he added the verbiage about cyclists after the general election? I do not for one second believe that he is serious about this.
Rahm made up his platform the exact same way in 2011. After the fact. Did you mention that?

Rahm's platform contained specifics before the election. The Bloomingdale Trail, the 25 mi/year of protected bike lanes, and bikesharing were all part of Rahm's platform before the election, so I'm not sure what you're getting at.
