I like the idea of doing a weekly ride. I know the weekend donut ride has been quite popular. Tacos are tasty.

The beauty of the Taco Ride is that those Iowans live in in a place where the nearest (non home-made) taco is many miles away. It is an exotic destination food. In Chicago there is a taco stand every two or three blocks. If we were to do something inspired by the Iowans, we should ride somewhere far away to eat something we can't get here. I'm not sure what that would be given Chicago's rich tapestry of ethnic foods. Perhaps we ride to generic chains in the suburbs? Olive Garden? Applebees? 

*I am not volunteering. This is just an attempt at humor. Group rides don't appeal to me very much.

I wanted to do that ride but ended up having a conflict. I like the idea of having a regular/weekly ride to have a regular destination. I'd ride for tacos. :-)

I'll agree with tony that there are a Taco spot on every block, I like a good Chicago dog or a Brat but in any city there are "those spots" and I would like to find a Coney Dog Detroit style. Leos in Lakeview closed years ago and a ride to Detroit can't be a weekly ride.

The version of the idea I had for this is take a given street in Pilsen and everyone cruises up and down 21st(?) and gets one taco from each vendor.

The Francheesie at Mean Weiner in Highwood is always appealing when I make my way that direction. Mean Weiner has a taco menu, but I've never dived into it.

Of course it should be on Tuesday or on any other day call it operation "get some".
My choice would be Susupuatos near Granville@ Broadway. Plenty of room for a group also has $1.50 Tamales.

From the replies here this might work just as a 'food variety ride'. For doughnuts, hot dogs, pieorgi's, tacos, sub sandwiches, etc. . . . Meet up at a location to gather, ride for a few miles to work up an appetite, 12 - 20 ++ cyclists arrive/meet at a food site, order, Enjoy! Or, whatever. To be continued and considered. . . . A solid plan and a 'foodie' organizer would be needed.

Me and some friends do a donut ride Saturday mornings.  5-15 miles, different donut shop every week. It's been a good excuse to stay on the bike all winter long.

So now that you've "focus-grouped" the hell out of this, why don't you plan and post a ride on the calendar and see if anyone shows up?

I second Kevin. This thread is making me WAY too hungry. I have tacos on the brain.
