Don't know if this has been an issue with CTA, but thought I'd pass it along in case it's becoming a "trend":

The link is regarding two recent thefts in Seattle. There are over 6000 entries on the Chicago Stolen Bike Registry. There are 4 reports of bikes being stolen off the front of a bus. One in 2012. Three in 2014. So while it has happened, our numbers suggest it remains rare.
I've always thought about that happening, but I have yet to ride the CTA with my bike on the rack.
I've put my bike on a bus lots of time and never had problems, and I've never seen other people's bikes get stolen off the front of a bus while I was a passenger. I agree with Kevin's comment above.
Preferred plural form of bus is "buses."
"Busses" means "kisses."
(Why yes, I'm an annoying English major, why do you ask?)
Good to know but it's never abated my paranoia to keep me from locking the wheel when i rack it
