You blew the red light east bound on Lawrence at Damen at 5:26 pm this evening.
There was enough time for the biker in front of me to make it half way into the intersection, northbound on Damen, before you came whizzing past my front wheel.
I yelled "You're an idiot!" at your big haired chick, self, and you looked back at me. I meant it!
I woulda testified for any of the cars, that managed to not kill you, if they had.
Keep riding like a tard!
love,
gabe
Witness bad behavior during your commute? Feel free to post. Maybe that lovely human can read it and think they are famous. Maybe you can also inspire the whole generation of kids to shower but we can start with small things.

You: getting all hot and bothered about shoaling, and arguing about it on the internet

Unfollowing this thread.
At one time it was a quick story share, minimal reaction, repository for day to day near miss/close calls that were good reads. It seems though a new breed of confrontational, whiney, thin skinned wanna be PC Police/Feeling corrector/Inserting Busy Bodies want to ruin this once majestic thread...
Leave a story, read a story, occasionally make a comment.
Between Michelle's off the tracks derailment and now the shoaling is/is not cool... f me. Guess this is what happens when a load of new folks sign on.
I guess I missed the "missed connection" -- what exactly happened that you've never seen before??

To the couple inside the Envoy driving south on Halsted nearby Grand/Milwaukee last night: Nice job? Way to blow? Not really sure what to say, but after riding in the city for 10+ years I can safely say I've never seen this come up before last night. Just wanted to share what I find to be an amusing tale in the hopes of lightening the mood on what's turned into a rather aggressive thread.
I assumed they were having sex... not exactly a missed connection!
LOL

I had to tell a woman that about a month ago at the 4th light that she moved ahead of me. Told her it was impolite of her to force me pass her one more time. After that conversation I never saw her again.

Exactly.
Shoaling is offensive when it is done repeatedly, by the same person, light after light. There are people out there who will edge around you at a stop light or stop sign only to become a moving road block you need to pass before the next stop light. Then they once again edge past you and force you to pass them again over and over again... It is annoying to have a slower rider continually pass you at lights only to force you swing into traffic to pass them when moving.
If you find yourself being passed over and over again by the same person between lights just let them in front of you at the next light, it's the polite thing to do.
If another rider is catching up to you at four successive lights, either those are some loooong lights, or you and that rider are going at nearly the same speed. If it came to being "forced" into traffic to pass a somewhat slower rider, wouldn't it be safer to wait for a safe passing opportunity? You can arrive late or you can arrive *late*... if you catch my drift. ;-)

Or they could just not shoal you after you pass them because they are the slower rider, nobody is forced to shoal.
You can also have a situation where having to wait to safely pass the person shoaling you means you have miss them light and have to wait with them.

Perhaps it comes down to a basic lack of understanding of the original post? English is a difficult language, after all.
I HOPE that the moron that acted like a fool sees the post about them and acts better in the future. I expect they won't but at least I feel better having vented.
I'm SO glad that we have so many people that have nothing better to do then surf the net trolling. I told Tim on that other social media site that I don't follow this thread, I just check it when i check the site. That way i don't get notifications that some moron with no profile pic, and no proof of being a real human, has an opinion i don't give a shit about. The site doesn't need upgrades, just better users.
Good point, Jeff. Actually, this happens to me on a frequent basis. 'Cept I don't always catch up to the other rider. ;-)
Actually, it's sort of interesting to notice how far ahead people get by not waiting for the green light... not that far, usually.

There is at least one other explanation. Often, somebody shoals me at a red light, then proceeds through the intersection while the light is still red after cross traffic has passed. I stay put until the light is green. Then I pass them mid-block. Lather, rinse, repeat.
In their defense, at least this kind of shoaler has a reason for doing it. They don't want to wait for the light to change.
