Governor Quinn released federal funding on Saturday to build the Cal-Sag Trail down Halsted, up and over a cool new bridge, and through Riverdale:

You can see the bridge that gets funded (thanks to Gregg Calpino at SEH, Inc.) here: http://calsagtrail.org/FOCST/transform-it/
And you can raise a glass of fine Trappist ale with us at Pour It Forward this Friday to help us raise some of the money towns need to match the federal grants: http://calsagtrail.org/FOCST/event/pour-it-forward-at-rock-island-p...
Groundbreaking for the trail is June 7! Wherever you are this Friday, drink to that!

That is good news. Is there a map that shows the future Cal-Sag trail, including its connections, and (ideally) a timeline of when this might be completed?
Hi, Duppie! The blog post "Two Miles to Go" is a pretty good guide - though of course it's now wonderfully out of date! http://calsagtrail.org/FOCST/two-miles-to-go/
Groundbreaking for the trail from Cicero Ave. west to Route 83 in Lemont is June 7. Completion date likely late October 2014. Construction bids for some eastern sections will likely be awarded in September, with construction Spring 2015. Completion of all sections likely by 2017.
Thanks for asking! And try to make it down to Blue Island on Friday and raise a toast with us!
Planning to join you in Blue Island on Friday to toast this milestone. Cheers!
