The Chainlink

Traffic 'round these parts dropped off pretty dramatically a few weeks ago... hard to tell from the "I rode today" thread who's still riding, as one would have to conclude that Gene is the only one out there most days by reading it....

Who's sticking it out and plans to continue to ride pretty much every day regardless of weather?

I just Divvied down Hubbard Street from near Western Avenue to Ogilvie Metra Station.  The streets were very clear of snow, though wet, but a lot of the pot holes on Hubbard that had been packed with ice are now big drops in the pavement, making for a bumpy ride.  The Kinzie Street protected lanes from Milwaukee to Clinton were clear enough to ride, for the first time in weeks, though there are plenty of puddles to splash through.  After all the snow on the ground last night, tonight felt like spring had finally arrived.

Riding has been great this week.   The LFP is so clean - except around Fullteron - you can eat off it. Even flying up Michigan avenue is now a breeze.

Send this complaint to the Department of Redundancy Department!

You all do know there is an existing thread for this, no?

If that is his get up today I suspect there are no bike winter stickers on his bike. He won't be out when it gets below 50. I still had sandals and a t shirt for my ride.

I felt a little sorry for a couple soggy riders I saw on the way in this morning. At least it was warm!

No need to feel sorry for us! It was very warm and a wonderful ride.

It was just a *little* sorry. :-)

I was dry, but a little sweaty. Six of one...

No doubt! Don't mind a little sogginess.  That is why I keep towels at the office.

Oddly, I saw a bizarre number of other cyclists on my way home from Forest Park last night (~ 2 AM). One even came very close to buying it while apparently trying to pass me on my right on 26th street.

First string of hot days and we go to Winter 2015? :-)
