Agreed. I am all for anything that makes people think and realize their driving can have real consequences. Road and car design can only do so much.

I guess for juxtaposition and because it hits closer to home, here is a much lighter advert from a Norwegian "share the road" safety campaign. I like it because it has a good mix of drivers and cyclists doing dumb things.

Would this have been more or less effective if it featured graphic carnage instead of Thor Hushovd riding away like nothing happened?

Why do parents blame the TV for their lack of parenting? The Super Bowl and especially the commercials are not appropriate for kids 4 and 7. There is nothing wrong with that ad; there is a lot wrong with parents letting their kids spend hours in front of the TV watching things designed to shock mature adults.
