I was lucky, the wind pushed my cycling butt right into Evanston, from Uptown.  Made a couple motorists angry that I was going as fast as they were... so day wevved day widdle engines at me.  ahhh.

Today (1/16/14) these minefield/potholes were cold patched with asphalt.

I put one in yesterday. :-) I hope multiple requests result in quick work!

The potholes on Milwaukee and Augusta are getting worse. Until today, there was at least a narrow strip of pavement that would allow you to avoid the cluster of potholes, but now that strip has disintegrated. I've put in a 311 request, but be really careful if you ride SB Milwaukee.

Hooray!  When I went through there around 7:30 the minefield was still there.

Just a weather report.  Still quite warm, but it seemed to be a mix of rain and snow on the way home.  Streets wet.  If the temperature starts to drop it might get dicey.  Salt truck on Milwaukee salting the bridges--in anticipation, I guess.

I fear there will be wrist, shoulder, and hip injuries today.

The bike lanes are patchy with ice this morning. Saw plenty of cyclists, which was awesome.

"Main" side streets had patchy ice.  Milwaukee, Kinzie, Dearborn were fine except for one or two places on the whole route.  And, as Kevin pointed out yesterday, the minefield at Milwaukee and Augusta was patched! Funny, too, how 15 degrees does not feel so cold any more.

There was a light dusting of snow in small patches on the south portion of the LFT, totally passable. Saw other cycle tracks through it, so I knew I wasn't alone.  Hope there is not any serious snow accumulation happen later today before the return commute.

Huge mounds of ice every dozen yards in the bike lane on Damen north of Montrose.

Similar mess on Archer. Here is a shot of Archer at Quinn, a few blocks west of Halsted:

The bike lane is sporadically full of either piles of old snow or ice between Throop and Canal or so. I had a brief exchange on Twitter about it recently in which Streets and San actually said that they are not responsible for bike lanes and pointed the finger at CDOT! I'm pretty sure CDOT is only responsible for protected bike lanes (or whatever the City is calling them this week).

I was encouraged that there were actually brief stretches (20 feet?) of the bike lane on California that were almost rideable. Spring is nigh?
