Drivers over 75 are required to take a driving test when they renew their licenses (which is required every year after 75). IL has some of the strictest elderly driving laws.

Am I the only one who thinks the 81-year old dad is a bit of a prick?
An 81 year old can drive a 4000LB vehicle without regards to their skills and abilities, but if a bicyclist behaves stupid, we need to get all self-righteous and smart-alecky. It is a sad reflection on our car oriented culture.
At least he's acknowledging that bicyclists do have a place on the road and that we bicyclists need to follow the same rules under which he has to drive.
This isn't a dis from a motorist, but from one cyclist to another...
I saw Steven V riding his big ol' dutch bike with a basket on the front and said "Does your grandma know you took her bike?".
His response to me on my converted mountain bike with soda crates filled with shopping bags "Does the bum from the alley know you took his?".
"Touche" I replied!
If I had a dollar for every time I (as a cyclist myself) observed a cyclist do something stupid, illegal or inconsiderate, I could subscribe to Divvy for a year. ;-)
Steve
Hilarious.

Maybe some offense is taken when someone suggests to prepare for death on the road- "why don't you just paint your bike white now" (though I'd bet he didn't mean it that way)(maybe another quote would be more constructive).
I'll admit that I sometimes get snippy with those whom I interpret as taking too many risks in traffic or "making cyclists look bad" in public... fwiw, I'm much more into the Alex (bikefreeek) and Steven style dises.
Maybe a good, seasonal one- "your bike is so salty, I bet it was the subject matter of the chainlink dis thread"
