Traffic 'round these parts dropped off pretty dramatically a few weeks ago... hard to tell from the "I rode today" thread who's still riding, as one would have to conclude that Gene is the only one out there most days by reading it....
Who's sticking it out and plans to continue to ride pretty much every day regardless of weather?

Took Divvy this morning. Started with my bike, but thought I'd save it from the salty slop out there. Slow ride, but thanks to the fenders, I arrived with minimal slop on my shoes and pants.
The bike/bus lane was pretty messy in several spots on Clark, but I was able to plow through with no slippage (except once on a manhole cover). Only really encountered ice on Dearborn near the HOB driveway.
Had to try a couple docks at the Divvy station. Lot of snow got pushed in there during shoveling (Chase Plaza)
I did 8 miles on the cargo bike this morning to take my daughter to art class, pretty cold riding northwest but the main streets were pretty clean (Elston, Sacramento and Milwaukee). I wear a reflective vest and had the lights on for a dramatic effect.
I only saw 2 other bikes on the way in this morning. The temperature, though quite low, was nothing to the wind out of the South. Yiiikes!

Some overnight snow expected tonight into tomorrow.

* ACCUMULATION...TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION OF AROUND 2 TO LOCALLY 4 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED IN THE ADVISORY AREA.

* OTHER IMPACTS...VERY COLD TEMPERATURES WILL MAKE REGULAR NON- TREATED ROAD SALT LESS EFFECTIVE...WITH COLD TEMPERATURES RESULTING IN SNOW IMMEDIATELY ACCUMULATING ON ROADWAYS. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS...LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND VERY DIFFICULT TRAVEL CONDITIONS.
I am still riding and will ride year round.
Happy Days!!
The idea of getting all of my cold-weather gear on this morning and removing it at work felt too overwhelming so I didn't bike... and regretted that decision within 5 minutes of walking out the door, as it didn't feel all that cold. I really should know better by now!

The path is clear with the exception of the usual spots at fullerton and oak st to grand. The bypass on fullerton is clear though. Strangely enough the sidewalk and bridge over the Chicago river just south of Navy Pier is full of slush and snow and hasn't been touched although just south of the bridge the path is perfect, not sure if there's some sort of jurisdictional issues between the Parks district and CDOT there or not. There's some patches of snow south of the museum campus but most of the path is bone dry and my only complaint would be that the parks district oversalted things.

How's the lakefront path heading south from downtown? I'll need to head to Hyde Park from Logan Square on Thursday and want to have my route prepared.
