Absolutely beautiful ride home last night. Today may be a different story :))
Today really tested the limits of my rain gear. I had fun though, I like days like this every once in a while!
I rode and stayed dry & looked fabulous! (I am an idiot and tucked my pants into my shoes and the rain ran down my pants & leaked into my shoes! Human error!)
I don't fit into the 'normal' body type of a cyclist so I can't find any cycling specific clothing that works. The HH Voss stuff doesn't breathe or have vents but I bought in with cold weather in mind so it works for me and the price was nice!
I recently got a trainer. My road bike sits on the trainer while my commuter and mountain bike will still venture out in the elements. This week I have gotten great early morning workouts listening to my own spin mixes wearing sandals with clips and no helmet. The only downside is that I look longingly at the bikes I see when I go home after work.
Hit the road early to avoid heavy traffic, my Levi's commuter pants did very well, dried quickly at work. Extra pair of socks for my steel toes at work in tow. Wet shoes and socks drying by an obscure heating vent. Should be dry by the end of the day.
North Face Bracket Jacket does well, could be more breathable.
Gloves dry fast
no hoodie needed, rain helped wake me up, wind at my back.
Steady and smooth ride. Traffic was very calm.
Good ride
Dressed for early fall (shorts and t-shirt) for the morning ride, but packed clothes for late fall (sweat pants and long-sleeved base layer) for the ride home.
I rode my own bike, but this is a day made for Divvy: avoid the morning rain via train or bus, ride home on Divvy in the presumably dry evening
It was not raining too bad this morning, but the strong wind made it so much worse, and I got soaked anyway. Good thing I always keep backup dry clothes in my bag. My Chrome Storm shoes were not all that waterproof – I should have worn my boots instead. +1 for Converse! I love how packable canvas shoes are, and they stayed nice and dry in my Ortlieb pannier.
Forecast for this afternoon looks dry, though.
What an early morning commute - falling rain, standing water, slick leaves, darkness, and a strong gusty headwind! Unfortunately, that headwind won't mean a tailwind on the way home tonight. The weather reports have the wind shifting from the south to the north and bringing with it colder temps. I guess it's one of those "walking uphill both ways" type of days.
