I recently discovered the convenience of dynamo hubs. Now I am looking to equip a second bike with a dynamo hub wheel. Since this bike won't be used as frequently, I am looking for a budget option. Any thoughts on a LBS that has some affordable dynamo hubs wheels in stock? Prefer local, but will consider online recommendations as well.
Thanks.

I cannot think of a shop that would stock a fully built wheel; to many possible combinations and to little demand to make it really worthwhile. I think Boulevard would be most likely, you could try there.
Having a wheel built to the Sram hub is probably your cheapest option if you can deal with a black hub, if not expect to pay about $120-150 for a Shimano depending on the type of brake you want.
Here's one from Harris Cyclery:
They don't generate a current suitable for powering phones and tablets, do they? I've got a long trip coming up and tracking it with my phone would be fun.
They do, thru a converter. There are various products on the market at various price points. Here is one such solution.

Of course, if this is a one time event, and you don't have a dynamo hub yet, you will be better off looking into an external battery pack for your phone. That would be a much cheaper solution. I picked up a 5000mAh for $40 or thereabouts.

I've got one already, but I'm doing a six day trip and would like a cushion if possible. Siva's working on that little battery charger but it's not coming out until November and I don't know how robust it will be for long distances, rain, bumps and so on.
Wow that Peter White stuff is expensive. I'm better off spending that money for an extra night in Georgetown.
There is the Siva Cycle Atom as well:

I contributed to the Kickstarter campaign. In theory, I should be receiving my unit and t-shirt in November.
What size wheel are you looking for? We have a hand-built 700c Velocity A23 to a Sanyo dynamo in stock at Comrade Cycles for $175.
It will need to be a 700c with rim brakes. Does that rim fit 35mm tires? What color is it?

Sorry, just corrected myself. It's $175. It will fit a 35. The rim is black and the hub is silver.
Price is right, but I'd prefer an all silver wheel and hub.
Thanks

Sorry to hijack this thread, but the Siva looks like it would offer resistance to pedaling. Is it as low-resistance as a good modern dyno hub? Or is it like an old bottle generator?
