Dovah Cat,

Where in Avondale? I live in Avondale, near Roscoe and Pulaski. Last week when I got home from a concert my next-door neighbor was out back, and told me that he had had some power equipment stolen from his (locked, fenced) back yard that afternoon. The police had told him about a couple of other thefts in recent days, and one of our neighbors had seen an old moving can trolling the block the day before. It occurred to me, and I mentioned to him, that there may be a gang of thieves (I love saying that) hitting the neighborhood.

Oh man, that's not good news.  I'm on the border of Logan Square/Avondale. We had someone swipe our plastic kiddie pool (dog-sized... how ridiculous) from our locked/fenced backyard, but nothing big. I'll be on the lookout.

Julia, the gang-of-thieves thing is just a supposition by me; no evidence for it. Nonetheless, I am paying more attention. Where are you at?

Thanks for your responses, guys. He's near the police station over that way, ironically enough. Filed a police report, time to obsessively check Craigslist.
