I don't do twitter.  Do you mean that someone with the City sent out a tweet about it?

Actually, I guess it is naive to say they don't know.  We know that at least Charlie Short reads our piffle from time to time.  I think I really meant that I did not think it had been "officially communicated".

If acknowledging it in a tweet means that they know, then yes, they know. I always struggle knowing when a silly little tweet is an "official" communication, especially from a larger organization.

ohhhh. Oh no! Does CDOT know about this?

We were among the many who fell on the icy Dearborn bridge yesterday morning! Sounds like Derek really got the worst of it.

Please define piffle.

piffle

To talk or act feebly or futilely.

Foolish or futile talk or ideas; nonsense.

to talk or behave feebly

nonsense, as idle talk or trivial writing.

to talk or behave in a nonsensical way.

:-)

just saw this. Derek, speedy recovery.

Derek said:

fell hard enough to break a few bones in my inner hand, i'm assuming from catching my weight on a single 1" piece of metal on the palm vs distributing the weight over a non mesh surface.  I have a cast on, typing one handed and will be off the bike for at least a month.  I'm really wishing I had asked for painkillers in the ER. It hurts a lot more now that shock wore off.

Wind mostly behind me except for the times it swirled all around and hit me sideways and then in the front.  Not a bad ride, but for me, the ride home promises to be quite miserable.  I hate wind!

I am fine--Spence and Derek, how are the hands?  Are you able to ride?

Same as yesterday. Strong wind from the west. I think for all you later kids with the sun up, it will be a whole lot nicer. Ride safe.

So last night fighting the wind I was thinking maybe I would just take the subway this morning.  Then I got home and said to myself: "well, self, you made it and it wasn't THAT bad.  Maybe we will ride tomorrow."  Got on the bike this morning and it was pretty nice.  Not exactly spring, but nice.  And the wind this afternoon is only supposed to be about 18 mph gusting to 30 instead of yesterday's 22 mph gusting to 37.

;-)

I did.

Feeling is starting to return to my fingers.

Yes!  Exact same conversation I/we had this morning.  Felt like I could barely stand at some lights last night with the wind gusts but still not enough to get me on the train this morning.

My toes have only forgiven me in the last hour.  Now that I've got some shell mittens my feet are the final frontier.

Wonderful first day of Spring!
