The Chainlink

Traffic 'round these parts dropped off pretty dramatically a few weeks ago... hard to tell from the "I rode today" thread who's still riding, as one would have to conclude that Gene is the only one out there most days by reading it....

Who's sticking it out and plans to continue to ride pretty much every day regardless of weather?

Nice, Steve!

I've got the same frame.  No studs, but still pretty "winterized."

Heading east on Lawrence Ave. just past Pulaski Rd.

Had a nice ride last night, running some errands in the neighborhood.

How are the roads looking? The Loop doesn't seem too bad, plus the snow is a lot less thick than it was this afternoon.

Being that it's 4 PM and still snowing, I'm not sure what this means.

My husband called about an hour ago and told me he was behind some poor fellow on a bike and was afraid to pass him because the road was so bad.  Not exactly sure where, but probably Halsted, Wrightwood, or Ashland.  He said the guy ended up getting off the bike and walking.  Take care, everyone.

I'm anticipating uber-slippery.

He means the snow is falling at a slower rate.

Yup. Rode in to work this morning, taking the train home (and taking the train in to work in the morning)

Such is the benefit of being able to leave my bike parked inside overnight.

I was partly right! Main roads (Milwaukee/Division) are salted, but narrowed. Lots of slop in the bike lanes. Intermittent slop-concealed chunks of frozen ice and snow. Stay on the clear pavement wherever possible. I had fun, but it's not for everyone.
