I don't have much information other than what's in the story:
http://www.mysuburbanlife.com/2012/12/04/bicyclist-struck-by-truck-...
Thursday, someone who knows the rider posted on a local FB page that he was still in ICU.
This happened 2 blocks from us and we go through that intersection virtually every day whether driving, walking, or biking. In fact, my daughter and I passed through there on our tandem shortly before this happened. It is one of my least favorite intersections to ride or walk through. The City of Berwyn installed a red light camera there due to the high number of accidents, but it only monitors 26th street, not East Avenue.
Thoughts and prayers for a complete recovery

Thanks for passing the updates along. This gives a much clearer picture of his condition.
It's going to be a long, hard road to have any sort of shot at non-institutional living.
As with many such injuries, the time support is most needed is 3, 6, or 12 months down the road when most people have typically lost interest. I wonder what we can do to try to give some sort of structure to longer-term community support.
Howard, my thoughts exactly.
love that idea

What about a charity mass ride through the intersection to raise awareness and some funds to help for recovery?
Count me in. It could end at a local bar or restaurant to include those who prefer not to ride.
I know I'd be up for that, as would one of my coworkers and a few of his friends. He says the Berwyn Active Transportation Committee should definitely be notified to help make this happen.
Great idea. I'd like to be part of that effort.

Allison I'm part of that committee. My wheels have been turning this morning about this. I've got some ideas on where it could end up.
I should see at least one other committee member and numerous business owners Thursday at the Berwyn Development Corp annual meeting and that's a great place to start.
When would we be doing this? Mid or late March so it can be talked up at the Chicago Bike Swap?
