I posted somewhere on this forum a while ago about passing out blinkies to riders who need them. Evanston Bike Club is insterested in giving this a try. They are looking to buy about 100 blinkies and pass out 50 to members and then pass out another 50 to people who need them. Details of how this will be done are still being worked out.
We did some research and seem to find very cheap foriegn devices that may or may not work and other devices more like the ones you and I use with the cheapest price being $6.50 per blinkie.
Does anybody have a line on where a bulk purchase can be made by a bike club that will partially be a member benefit and paritially be a do good activity using proceeds from the North Shore Century for an inexpensive price? The less we pay the more we can buy and pass out. Thanks.

Talk to BikeNashbar. They have the standard style rear red light for $5.99, but this requires batteries.
Then they have the older style of Blackburn Flea front headlight, which has an internal lithium ion, and has a USB charger, great for those who don't like batteries. Maybe they will cut you a good deal on a bulk order.

I have both types and have been very happy with them.
Use rechargeable batteries in the tail light, cheaper and last much longer, a little less toxic to the environment.
