Ok the title is misleading, just wondering who these folks may have been, or if they are out there on here. Saturday afternoon about 2:00 they(about 8-10 of them)were riding up California near Armatage. I was coming from the west waiting to make my way South on California as they went by, saw me, bells a ringin, waves and smiles. All older cruisers(and older gentleman)from Id say maybe the 50's, 60's maybe 70's. Think old Hawthornes..

Anyone else ever seen these guys in the area?

I assume they ride in a pact or are a group but I could be wrong.

I saw a group like them on the Sunday Parkways last year. Restored vintage cruisers, some with all-chrome frames and seriously tricked out. Very cool and they got a great reception from people they passed in both directions. Nothing like bright, shiny objects to liven up the day!
There is a city bike tour that is on bikes. They use cruisers as well...Always fun to pass a pack of 20 or so riders...

There's a Puerto Rican cruiser bike club in Humboldt Park that has been around at least as long as I have been in Chicago (about 20 yrs.) and probably much longer than that. They all ride highly accessorized and immaculately clean cruisers. Just another thing that makes Chicago such a wonderful city.
there is a section on the ChiTown Cruisers in J. Harry Wray's Pedal Power: The Quiet Rise of the Bicycle in American Public Life. (more info and contents for the book, which i highly recommend, is available here.)
I'll second that recommendation. It's an excellent book. If you haven't gotten a copy, it's a worthy buy.
