Also want to share a huge thanks with John Greenfield, Willow Naeco, and Steven Lane for their early, active, and consistent support of this effort.

We will meet up at 5:30pm on Friday, August 31st at the Picasso statue at Daley Plaza. Please join us for a beautiful ride through parts of the Southside of Chicago!

I go to CCM about 90% of the time.  So far I haven't missed one in 2012.

hey James - yep, we thought about that also. and we decided to end at 31st beach because of the new marina and other new construction work that was recently completed. its truly an awesome beach and new marina with alot of cool, new features for kids and adults alike. will you be joining us? if so, look forward to meeting you in person.

So the post-ride ride will be from 31st street beach back to Wicker/Bucktown/Logan Square where 80%+ of CCM riders actually live...

hey Anne - agreed! we test rode the route yesterday. and it promises to be a very beautiful ride indeed...

I'll second that thought on 31st St. beach - it's a beauty.  What's wrong with the whole ride going south once in a while?  A change of scenery isn't a bad thing.

I remember the ride to Bronzeville a few years back. Post ride indeed.

Are these neighborhoods safe to bike though?

is that a joke?

this is a great map.  I was planning on skipping this month's ride, but it'll be so refreshing to actually end up closer to my house for once.   who's in for the post ride to the south?

hey Adam - very interesting question. and i have to take this question seriously, as you gave no indication that this was a joke. yes, these neighborhoods are safe to bike. i am a proud native southsider and i've rode my bike throughout the southside for years (late nights included) and had only beautiful and pleasant experiences. of course, you realize that safety is a consideration for the entire city and certainly not limited to the southside. we should always be conscious of our safety. and we took that into consideration when planning the route, naturally. the route is beautiful with rich historical significance for the entire city and all people. during our test ride we were greeted with waves, smiles, and hellos. this is going to be an awesome ride and the more positive energy the better. if you'd like to chat in more detail about your question, please send me a message on here or contact me at theycallmeoboi at gmail dot com. thanks for the question and trust all is well for you! - Oboi

i have been called a dreamer from time to time...

Sounds like an interesting route, but if you can get all of CCM going to to one place, then you must be the greatest cat herder of all time.

Olatunji Oboi Reed said:

there's another route planned also? we'd love for the entire CCM family to roll South with us...

I think the plan is for the south side ride to leave at 5:30 and the usual Foster beach ride will leave closer to 6:30?

James BlackHeron said:

5:30 huh?

It sounds like a fun ride but I can't remember the last time CCM actually left before 6:10 or even 6:15.

Thanks guys. I love to explore new neighborhoods and this ride seems like a good opportunity to do so. Just a bit wary of travelling south of 35th. I trust your word that these areas are safe, and can't wait ro ride!

hey Paul - what part of Chicago do you live. i am def up for a "post-ride" ride. some of us are considering going to the people's DJ collective party that night after the ride. gotta get the address, though i know its west of 31st street beach.
