The Chainlink

I saw this on the bottom of the home page here on theChainLink...

I always find it amusing to read the posts people leave to the ones that "got away". This one was unexpected, given the category...but then again, maybe not. :)

This is a good one

Beautiful!

That's super aweseome! its always so great to hear about people really taking care of one another. Totally made me a little teary eyed to read (in a good way) :)

I hope the injured cyclist is able to recover well.

There is hope for humanity. Thank you for posting!

Anyone know if Casey is a Linker?

I just emailed Casey through Craiglist wishing him (or her) a speedy recovery.

On yesterday's CCC ride, we were crossing from Jackson Park to Midway Plaisance when an accident happened nearby.  A young woman took a hard fall from her bike and wasn't moving much for the next few minutes.  We went back to help her.  As we formed a protective circle around her and started to ask questions about what was injured, a police sergeant came along and suggested that we move out of the street.

We explained to him what had happened.  He asked the young woman if she needed an ambulance.  She said no.  He stood by for a minute as we helped her friend get her up and to walk her over to the curb, then clear the street.

Strangers have stopped to help me when I've had accidents.  I'd rather do likewise when I can.

Good job!

I'm not sure if this replies to all of you and you're notified, but I hope so.  This is Casey (the one from the above post).  My friend forwarded this onto me so I felt like I had to create an account to respond to the well wishes.

I can say that I'm doing all right.  I had a pin put in my finger and the cuts are continuing to heal after the stitches were taken out.  Things could be a lot worse.

Thanks for the kind words and support.  As soon as this finger is healed, I plan on buying a new helmet and getting back out there with all of you.

Ride safe and be well.

Hey nice to hear from you!  I'm glad you're doing well and healing quickly.

I hope he is doing well and the finger heals well and quickly.

Keep the physical therapy up on the finger appliance once the docs OK it so that full range of motion is preserved and any scar-tissue adhesion to the surrounding skin/tissue is kept to a minimum -and it is broken up and worked free as soon as possible.  The longer that is put off the more it will hurt and be a bother later.

I learned this the hard way when I got a rod/pins/plate/screws in my left tib/fib.  I still have some adhesion from the fib plate (and the screws that hold it onto the side of the bone) with my skin and tendon tissue just above the ankle.  It's been a decade working it painfully to get it back to normal again. Skimping early on is a false economy.

Speedy recovery!
