Folks,
Momentum magazine is running a new guide to the Chicago bike scene in their September/October issue.
Here's the guide I wrote for them back in 2008:

Got any suggestions for cool bike stuff and bicycle-friendly businesses that may have flown under my radar, such as:
Social rides
Bike-friendly restaurants, bars and cafes (with cool bike parking, local/organic food, biking clientelle, etc.)
Bike-friendly hotels and B & Bs
Any other non-obvious bike stuff that would be worth mentioning to a visiting cyclist
Thanks!
John Greenfield

Definitely, and as founder of XXX Racing, Yojimbos owner Marcus Moore is a local legend.
Other shops I mentioned last time as being commuter/messenger-friendly included Rapid Transit, Uptown, Tati and Boulevard (OK, I work there).
Thanks, and keep those suggestions coming!
Thanks Dan.
Anybody got an opinion about "What's the coolest think about the Chicago bicycle scene?"
the garden(yes it is supposed to be lower case) www.thegardenjumps.com Legal dirtjumps and a pumptrack in city limits as a part of the Chicago Park District. All labor and expenses are covered by CAMBr West(Chicago Area Mountain Bikers West Chapter) volunteers.
I might be a bit biases as the West Chapter President but it is pretty darn cool!
I can also confirm Rapid Transit and Smart Bike Parts commitment to the Chicago cycling community. They have both been sponsors of CAMBr fundraisers.
Not to toot my own horn, ah hell, just to toot my own horn; neither Kidical Mass or Critical Lass were active in '08.
Po Campo and Kozie Prery definitely need some recognition.
The Bike Lane on Milwaukee has also slowly become my go-to LBS since they opened last year. Those dudes are fantastic.
