Just beat the heavy stuff into work this morning, but it was so foggy I wanted to stay out of traffic and take the path.

Kept my fingers crossed that the truck I saw yesterday was there to finally patch those drops south of fullerton, and hooray, new blacktop is down.  There are two strips of asphalt gone south of the s-curve now, but they're not anywhere near as deep as previous holes.

Although my panniers aren't waterproof, I usually put my work clothes in a plastic grocery bag to protect them from 1) debris, lint and gunk that seems to find it's way into my pannier and 2) sudden rainshowers.

I also own some drybag panniers, but usually only use them for touring, but by the looks of today, I probably should have used them. I'm going to get soaked on the ride home tonight, but at least it isn't 40 degrees out.

At least two good things about riding in the rain: one has the bike path almost exclusively for oneself, and the bike room at work is almost empty.

. . . But water was literally sloshing about in my shoes by the time I got to work, and the dry pieces of clothing I brought with me weren't dry at all.

FUN ride SB on LFP today with 25 mph tailwind and nary a soul to interrupt a very fast (yet somewhat wet) ride!
Although rainy and cold, I have to agree that riding southbound today was great! I didn't take the the LFP, but just going south down Lincoln I flew and made it to the office in record time- I also got some use out of the drybag panniers, too.

I was dry today - thanks to two layers of tights under my jeans; and 3 pairs of socks; and a hoodie under a windbreaker. and a winter hat under the helmet. perfect riding weather for pre-memorial day.

and tonight is the chase corporate challenge (3.5 mile running race) gorgeous for running and hanging around grant park drinking cold beer watching the sun set.

yeah right

Yeah, I was hoping I would have put all that crap away by now too.

Not worried about the run tonight, just the 8 mile ride home against the wind after I've blown my legs in the race...

Fuck today's wind
NB on Lincoln was a pain in the a** this afternoon. The headwind was pretty rough and it the gusts coming from the east-west side streets almost pushed me into traffic. I feel sorry for any of you that have to ride north tonight. Hopefully these winds aren't present for Bike the Drive on Sunday as I usually like going both north and south for that event.
I opted to take a bus to work today instead. Seeing the waves while coming home on LSD..... I knew I made the right decision.
Today wasnt too bad.  A bit wet in the morning, but not as bad as Wednesday.  The wind this afternoon however, was very frustrating.  Heading into it was unpleasent, and running sideways along it, while not as bad, still had it's dicey moments.

Everywhere I went it was in my face.  Good thing I only had a few errands to run.

I'm whooped, face wind burned and legs tired. But for *March* this is nice weather.
