Just beat the heavy stuff into work this morning, but it was so foggy I wanted to stay out of traffic and take the path.
Kept my fingers crossed that the truck I saw yesterday was there to finally patch those drops south of fullerton, and hooray, new blacktop is down. There are two strips of asphalt gone south of the s-curve now, but they're not anywhere near as deep as previous holes.
Although my panniers aren't waterproof, I usually put my work clothes in a plastic grocery bag to protect them from 1) debris, lint and gunk that seems to find it's way into my pannier and 2) sudden rainshowers.
I also own some drybag panniers, but usually only use them for touring, but by the looks of today, I probably should have used them. I'm going to get soaked on the ride home tonight, but at least it isn't 40 degrees out.

At least two good things about riding in the rain: one has the bike path almost exclusively for oneself, and the bike room at work is almost empty.
. . . But water was literally sloshing about in my shoes by the time I got to work, and the dry pieces of clothing I brought with me weren't dry at all.
I was dry today - thanks to two layers of tights under my jeans; and 3 pairs of socks; and a hoodie under a windbreaker. and a winter hat under the helmet. perfect riding weather for pre-memorial day.
and tonight is the chase corporate challenge (3.5 mile running race) gorgeous for running and hanging around grant park drinking cold beer watching the sun set.
yeah right

Yeah, I was hoping I would have put all that crap away by now too.
Not worried about the run tonight, just the 8 mile ride home against the wind after I've blown my legs in the race...

Everywhere I went it was in my face. Good thing I only had a few errands to run.
