Chicago -

A bicyclist was seriously injured after striking a car door, then falling into the path of a CTA bus Friday afternoon in the North Side Lincoln Park neighborhood.

About 3:20 p.m., a bicyclist ran into an open car door, fell and was struck by a No. 36 Broadway bus that was northbound at Clark and Arlington, CTA spokeswoman Kim Myles said.

The cyclist was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious to critical condition, Fire Media Affairs Chief Joe Roccasalva said.

The bus was briefly stopped as police conducted an investigation, although the incident did not cause any re-routes, Myles said.
That type of accident is my worst nightmare. I hope that the cyclist is able to recover and get back to a normal life.
Has anyone heard any updates on this story? I've been scouring the news, but haven't found anything.
I hope that the cyclist is doing ok. I'm really surprised not to see cager rage in the comments section. That at least is a good thing

This is a relative of mine and he has many broken bones, lots of pain, but amazingly expected to survive. He was riding in the bike path and he hit he opening car door. He was thrown into the street where he was run over by a CTA bus and dragged. The horrible thing is that the driver of the car fled the scene not knowing if he was alive or dead under that bus. All we know is that it was a white convertible. If anyone has information…please contact the police.

Of course.
