wow! you really need to get off it. we all support each others endeavours... be it our creativity, our performance, our activism. A lot of us know Sarah and it's nice to see what she is putting out there. I know for a fact those dresses are created with the intention of fellow female cyclist to wear and ride in them comfortably.
Wow!! that is all I have to say.. Terrible.. just terrible. Remind me to never ask you for support on any level thru the bike community.
bicycle_poet said:My initial criticism, to clarify, was directed at the creators/owners/moderators of the Chainlink for allowing a commercial non-bike post like Sarah's to show-up on front-and-center on the homepage forum. Perhaps this is just a design flaw with the Ninq platform, but still, posts like these are really just weeds in the garden of actual Chicago bike community discussion. Consider this: what if 10 or 20 or 30 more posts like Sarah's started showing up weekly on the homepage of the Chainlink. How could mass-marketing non-bike-related businesses really be serving the greater bike community needs?
Forum=>Categories=>Bikes and Bicycling . . . *poof* no more "mess" threads.
People, allow me to clear the air. I like Sarah's local business and sincerely I hope she is successful with it.
I must retreat on any criticism I directed towards Sarah, for I can see that she posted it as a "not bike related" forum topic.
My general issue with seeing a commercial advertising post in the all-in-one front page forum still stands. Agree with me or don't, I say the the Chainlink/Ning Forums platform is a mess because it combines too many forum topics, and it poorly organizes them by combing both bike and non-bike discussion.
But I'll admit to you now that my prior call to this sore spot seems to have been unclear and positioned unfairly. Please accept my apologies for my mis-delivered message.
My intent here was to cool this matter; hope you see it that way.
Thanks for all the support. I certainly didn't expect this type of reaction when I posted, but all's well that ends well. See you on the streets! :)
