While on the ride to work today, I opted not to consider all my to-dos and concerns. Instead, I tried to be completely immersed in the moment - I focused on the sounds I heard, what I saw, how the wind hit my skin. I noticed shops and streets I never saw before and actually felt the sun hitting me when I emerged from the shadows.  It was a completely different biking experience (albeit, a slightly hippie-ishon) and one that left my completely re-in love with cycling and the city of Chicago. I highly encourage all to try it!

With purpose I ride down Clark Street scanning for doors ready to open because it really keeps me on top of my game as Kung Fu is no longer on TV to keep me mentally balanced anymore. Let me add 'The Zone' really happens for me when I realize that there is not actually someone riding next to me but it is just the reflection of myself in a car mirror and I am soaking wet. Ohmmmmmmm ... Door City USA...
Go for it.

Tell the cops I said it would be fine.

Get a car hippies.

Only if I can drive it on the North Branch Trail.
That's part of the reason I bike, I stop thinking about all the nonsense and just enjoy the ride.
while riding the KATY Trail (Missouri) I found myself in the zone, no people (go 30 miles with out seeing a soul) no dogs, no walkers. Just you and the trail, almost the 4th dimension ,next thing you just put 10 miles behind you...another reason to ride mental health...curt
If riding is so good for your mental health, why does everyone think I am crazy putting in so many miles?

I don't. I used to put up huge miles as well, until my life got in my way.

It's not the mileage that makes people think you're crazy.

Maybe it's something involving bikes and rain storms.

Yes! My church is the bike and mother nature. Being in the moment and truly IN one's surroundings is a beautiful experience.
When I get caught in a summer downpour and I know I can't do anything but get soaked, I find myself grinning from ear to ear

You two are hopping on what was meant to be an inside joke of sorts. The craziness is the piece of the puzzle that's missing.
