Kinda off topic: song in my head

As a musician, I always have songs/riffs/drum patterns racing through my head. But I have had the intro hi-hat/guitar riff, as well as the guitar solo from the Descendents "Clean Sheets" in my head for well over a decade. Probably over than 5 times a day these riffs pop into my head and influence my pace o' life. Sometimes these pop into my head when I'm pedaling slowly and I pretty much immediately perk right up.

Does anyone else have a permasong in their head? Or am I just beyond hope?

P.S. Saw the Chainlink bookmarks at the Bryn Mawr Johnny Sprockets yesterday. NICE!!!

I played violin for 14 years, viola for 5 and classical guitar for 7. For some reason I thought it would be a better idea to give up music for studio art. I'm not sure it was a bad decision... I'd be one broke ass mofo either way.

Pretty sure I performed Shostakovich 10th with the Rockford Symphony once (blocked it out though . . .)
Never got bit by a classical riff while riding though-- almost always 70s songs back when I kept any sort of steady cadence.
I've always thought The Moldau would be an optimal riding piece.

Tommie, sounds like we had kind of a similar path. I played piano from 1st until 9th grade with all of the requisite lessons/competitions/recitals, etc. Then I got stung by the rock bug and started playing guitar. But there's something to playing piano that allowed me to pick up both the guitar and drums pretty quickly. That being said, I thought I wanted to study music, then found that the academic approach was squeezing all the joy out it, so I then opted to become a fine arts major.

Luckily, I managed to parlay the BFA into a decent (if not overwhelmingly boring) career as a web designer. But 20 years ago, I would've envisioned myself winning my first Grammy at this age, not sitting in front of a computer for a living. ;-)

I've had the song Crippled Croon by the Crystal Stilts in my head most of the week. Its catchy 80's influenced gothic post punk. Also, September Gurls and O My Soul by Big Star.

haha, great thread and comments... i find myself whistling all the time, i guess it's cause my dad did (does) it... i didn't realize either of us did it until i was in my twenties, but i catch myself doing it all the time... and what do i whistle?

the limbo theme song (dat dat da da da da da, etc.) or the scarecrow/tin-man songs from wizard of oz - don't ask me why, it's the weirdest thing but i only realize it after ive been whistling for a while or someone asks me why im whistling that

these songs will never leave my head - at least they are cheery

Ok.

I have no idea what station 88.5 is BUT on my way to the Alberto's group ride this morning I heard 4 Skid Row songs back-to-back.

They're in my head and making me want to buy the albums.
