A buddy of mine was cruising down Milwaukee 2 days ago, when a guy with these characteristics...

Dark complexion with dreads
Red messenger bag with some kind of black design on the back
White Leader track frame with pink and green lettering
Pink and blue deep v's
I think he had pink bar tape.

spit on my friend when he went around him, then proceeded to to do a red light breakaway. Does anyone know this guy?

Seriously?! That's messed up!
I'll be on the lookout for this fool.
is he for sure a messenger?
You have the time of day ? We can take a sit at the bus stop and see if he comes round again. Maybe stick a broomstick in his wheel.
Or we can wait and all throw water balloons at him?!
it was 10pm on Monday...

not sure if he was a messenger...maybe i will edit that...but with the skills of running through reds it was my assumption...sorry

from my friend...
"He was on my wheel for a bit going down Milwaukee (10pm), and then decided to pass me on the right, and I asked to give me a warning next time. He gets about 5 feet in front and turns around then spits, not down but up and towards me. He then takes off, running all the red lights, hence the reason I didn't chase him down, and frankly I was just to tired."
Water balloon, perfect solution to a growing problems. We can add petrol and use glass casing for added effectiveness if need be.
Growing problem? Are cyclists becoming more rotten to one another? Beyond staying calm, what is an appropriate response to conflict with other cyclists? Does anyone have a good line that de-escalates things?

I can't even think of a rational way to address this kind of aggression. I'm grateful that faster cyclists have always passed me with courtesy and skill. So I will just take this as a reminder to be kind to people who are slower than me, apologize when I do something stupid, and ride as cheerfully as possible.

what is this new sudden craze about passing on the right? Ive been riding in the city for 10 years and it seems like it just started this summer. passing on the right is obnoxious! well unless this is horse racing

Errant snot rockets are equally rude and disgusting. If you gotta hack or blow, at least look and see if someone's downwind. Sheesh!

Just a side note, all cyclists should not be spitting when they are riding their bikes. There has been a few times where a cyclist would spit to the side and the wind would blow it to my face. Just last night, I got hit pretty hard by a blow back loogi!

I hope you find that jerk!
that is absolutely rotten! i have seen this guy around logan square a few times, challenging cars and running down pedestrians. he must be so cool! i am all for carrying a few water balloons filled with snot...
I've seen this guy hanging around smart bike parts before more then a few times... He's a messanger for velocity I believe.
Maybe there'll be a photo of his bike in the "What do you ride?" thread:
