Any bets on the number of cars/trucks illegally using the temp bus/bike lane?

The bridge house looks pretty cool. A shame if it's removed, too. I'm still skeptical of all the river north development since that area's awfully contaminated. Property will probably be priced out of sight, too.

I worry the city will keep the original Cabrini homes fenced off and open to the elements until they deteriorate enough to justify tearing them down. All the little low-rises just to the north are over a million each.

Can bikes be walked over the temporary pedestrian bridge?

Are still letting pedestrians use the bridge for now? Green line on map is pedestrian/cyclist route from City of Chicago map.

All the signs and warning tape is up but people were walking across yesterday morning since there were only a handful of construction workers around. The Larabee/Division intersection was snarled pretty badly. The city could use a traffic director there to keep people from blocking the road.

I road by this morning, and I didn't see any pedestrians or bikes on the bridge.

From the Sun-Times article:  "An interim pedestrian bridge over the Chicago River will be put in place during the five-month project, though Chicago Avenue traffic is expected to reopen in early 2019. The final bridge should be complete by 2021."

Where and when will this interim bridge be built?

I rode westbound on Division on Saturday morning. Traffic was way backed up. I rode (cautiously) between the two rows of idling westbound cars.

This morning, eastbound car traffic on Division in UKV/WP area seemed unusually heavy. Will be interesting to see if closing Chicago has other spillover effects. Stay safe, everyone!

Has anyone tried using Grand Avenue? How bad is the traffic congestion there?

My commute takes me along Kingsbury between Chicago and Grand, and traffic on Kingsbury waiting to turn west on to Grand has been pretty bad. I'm guessing Grand is no picnic.
