Why do some threads have "replies are closed"?  I've read the forum rules and can't figure it out.  Makes sense when someone is selling something, and then it gets sold, but for other threads?  Who has the ability to close the thread?

I don't know that I've ever closed a thread. I don't see the point. That said, the person that started the thread and/or a moderator can close them and have closed them in the past.

Which thread are you referring to?

I prefer when an item gets sold the seller adds "SOLD" to the title of the post but that's just me. If I know something was sold, I do try to add them from time to time but am not 100% nor do I follow up with every time for sale (SO many!). :-)

Hope this helps shed some light...

It was the thread about the helmet with the built-in cameras.  It was highlighted in the weekly email as a recent thread.  Clicked. Read it.  Looked for the "reply" button, but couldn't find it.  Can't figure out why the original poster closed it.  Maybe an accident?

I have opinions about helmets with built-in gizmos, and would love to share, haha.  :-)

I reopened it. Don't know why it was closed. Comment away!

Seemingly closed again.

It's open. I see the text field for commenting:

Yeah, I see that now -- underneath the original posting.
Curiously, when I try to edit my recent comment, it throws me into a new reply text field.

I also am not able any longer to edit any replies on one device with an overloaded and outdated browser. Time to visit my (much younger) web techie for a 'tune up'.
No, "replies are NOT closed".
