Share your pics, videos, streets, stories of what you find in the bike lane of the non-bike variety that has an impact on your ride and/or your safety. I've decided to keep it a little more open ended - cars, snow, buses, garbage, cabs, etc. If they shouldn't be in the bike lane, go ahead and add it to this thread. Please be safe if you are taking pics or video! :-)

My hope is that we can collectively build some evidence of what we see when riding in the city with the overall hope of better enforcement of "bikes only" and improving maintenance.

Update: More Hashtags to Capture Vehicles in the Bike Lane

With popular hashtags:
#BikeLaneShaming

#LaneSpreading (Chicago Bike Selling)

#ClearTheWay (ActiveTrans), there are many options to capture violations.

We think you should use ALL of them AND post your photos on The Chainlink. ;-)

Is the new(ish) 311 Vehicle Parked in a Bike Lane reporting tool broken?

I tried reporting the vile casino busses which once again are using bike lanes on Archer at the Chinatown Red Line stop, but I'm getting this (I tried several other addresses on Archer, including the one in the image below which is definitely a valid street address, all with the same result):

Still broken. I tried some addresses on Halsted just to make sure the form didn't hate Archer in particular.

I reported it via the City's feedback form. We'll see if anything comes of that.

Just used it so it's working. But it's silly that you ave to put in a specific time and a range is not permitted. Car washes, for example, often block the bike lane during all of rush hour, not just for 15 minutes.

Similar to my last one, but this time it was an Uber parked at the mouth of the "protected" lane on Washington/Wacker, leaving about 3 feet of space on the right side so bikes can (just barely) pass within the designated, green-painted bike lane. At least until I got there and his fare showed up.

Two women walk directly into my path without looking.  In response to my, "Where are you going?" the first says, "Sorry"...and then immediately swings the door open, missing my now-stopped bike by inches. She seemed awfully surprised when I didn't back up and let her enter the car.

4242 N. Elston - regularly has delivery trucks blocking the bike lane. Not sure which business it is, Thillens or Alfa Restaurant Supply.

Check out this winner completely blocking the Dearborn PBL the other night. Almost went headfirst into the trailer, as I came around the semi-blind corner from Harrison in the dark. Called 311, sure there was no follow up.

Active Trans, "Car parked in your bike lane? The City of Chicago just made it easier to report vehicles blocking bike lanes via 311. Find out how you can help the city identify hot spots for obstructed lanes on our blog: http://bit.ly/2nAJztL"

Helping the city identify hotspots for blocked bike lanes just got easier with an update to Chicago’s 311 system.

According to the Chicago Department of Transportation, the city has activated a new 311 category for residents to report vehicles blocking bike lanes:

“The City of Chicago has implemented a new 311 code so that people riding bikes can easily report a 'Vehicle Parking in a Bike Lane.' This information will be used by the City to identify hotspots and prioritize enforcement. However, the City does not have the resources to respond to each individual report. People can call 311 or use the 311 web system to file a report. We’re asking cyclists to report the day(s), time(s) and locations(s) that they observe vehicles parking in bike lanes.”

The update to the 311 system comes on the heels of news that the Chicago Department of Finance is adding bike routes to patrol m....

just added the 31 link as a browser link on my phone.

OK, I just submitted my first report. I really should find the time to submit the ~75 incidents that have occurred over the past few months.

Any chance bike lane submissions will come soon to see-click-fix or ChicagoWorks? Would be really nice to not have to fill out that clunky form every time. Is there a way to request additions to those apps?

Hopefully they do get added.

Here's a link to the contact page of SeeClickFix:

I will put a request in through that link. And, suggest others do the same. It will make reporting so much quicker, easier, and more thorough. You could easily include pictures.
