The Chainlink

One of which was me, the other was our very own Lauren. Send her your blessings, her bike was totalled and she ended up with stitches.

I at another time, the same day, was hit head on on Franklin and Ontario. My bike is ok, no bones broken, just muscle spasms. The man who hit me asked me if I was ok, I told him "I think I need to go to the hospital" he said "sorry about that" and drove off. I couldn't see straight because my head was spinning so I didn't catch a plate number. I was going on my side of the street on the green light. Wasn't breaking any laws this time around.

The man hit me so hard I rolled on top of his hood and face planted his windshield. I went to the emergency room and got painkillers (which barely work).

Be careful people, accidents happen anytime. Even in broad daylight like mine.

I know, perhaps if he saw them in person he'd learn a thing or two like everyone else. I have the rack of eternal knowledge.

Exactly where I was back in 05' when I got hit there. Southbound on Franklin crossing Ontario.
Looks like I relived your route. =(

hey gang,

it's true; i was struck at 10 in the evening on tuesday. i don't want to get into details online, but the driver stuck around (thank goodness!), admitted fault to the police, and has insurance. i had a freshly-charged front light on my helmet, too, so i was adhering to my end of the law.

the collision was head-on, and my mouth and lip took the biggest hit. (my helmet was untouched during the incident.) the left two of my four front top teeth are hurting bad; one was chipped (got it capped this morning), the other is super-sensitive to pressure and is possibly fractured. there may be root canals and fake teeth in my future, BOO. oh, and did i make it clear that i bit through my lip? the doc who sutured me (four stitches) began the process by removing a fragment of tooth from my lip. gross. (i also spit some blood and tooth particles into the street at the scene.) i gotta get a mouthguard or something!

i also got a gnarley top-tube shaped bruise on my right thigh, and some bruises on both knees. i took it easy and did lots of ice-application on wednesday, but have done some errands by bike today with minimal discomfort. it was nice to get the muscles moving again.

and yeah, my road bike was totaled: the carbon-fiber fork shattered with the impact, and the aluminum top tube and down tube buckled. i'll put up pictures eventually.

it's not all bad, though. insurance should cover my med and dental bills, plus a replacement bike (which will be STEEL). the stitches in my lip are kinda a bummer, but they'll be out this weekend. my upper lip looks like i got a bee sting, and will probably be swollen for a while, but on the bright side, angelina jolie has done so much to show that full, fat lips can be sexy!

anyway, thanks to all for the concern and well-wishes! i don't need anything for now (aside from some new teeth, maybe), but i'll be sure to holler if i do. ride safe, and don't forget your front light!
I fall off my bike all the time but so far haven't hurt anything, just my pride.
You and Lauren ROCK! thankfull that you peeps r O.K.
Howard, I remember laugh in and I'm 12 ;-) that was funny as hell! ;-)

If anyone's old enough to remember Artie Johnson falling off the tricycle on Laugh In, that's what I always picture.
