The Perimeter Ride has been going for a solid decade and is an important first century for a lot of people who might not try such a thing without the CTA bail-out option. Also, it's awesome! Nature trails, oddball sights along the way, interesting food options and an easy pace for the moderately hardcore.
The venerable John Greenfield has been running it all these years, but he wants to step away and focus on developing new rides which will surely be fantastic. Stay tuned for those, he's got some interesting ideas up his sleeve.
So--folks who love the Perimeter Ride, let's keep it going! Weigh in here and we'll hammer down the details and post it as an event.

At the BBQ on Saturday we were talking about Sept. 1st for the pre-ride, but I realizes thats Labor Day weekend...
Been out of the loop but I'd be up to join the S/SW side pre-ride.
David, don't have your # anymore, lost it when I destroyed my last phone. call me 773-885-0900.
Welcome to everyone who joined this page in the last few days!
Whoever can make it this Saturday, please meet up at The Lunt House in Rogers Park for BYO Pot Luck grilling action and discussion of the ride. If we're able, we might do a little night ride to check out the NW corner of the route. I'll be around all day, but most folks will show up late afternoon/evening and then we'll see where the night takes us.
Address is 1638 W. Lunt. Lunt is 7,000 north and the house is between Ashland and Paulina. Text/Call me at 773 865-7445 if you get lost.
Topics to discuss not limited to:
--Pre-Ride Dates
--Including more proper piss stops on the route.
--Getting first-timers interested early enough to get them ready with training rides.
--Making an cool spoke card for the ride (with a big #11 in it?)
--"Oh, what's that you're drinking/eating? It looks delicious!" "Oh, have some, it is!"
Cheers!
David
I figured we would set preride dates on Saturday...
I've haven't seen a date yet, Sundays in general seem to be a little less full of activities than Saturdays, breaking the pre-ride into segments over a few Sunday afternoons could give different people the opportunity to participate.
Laura's here! NOW it's a party!
I'm free most weekends this month for pre-riding. I don't want to step on John's new SuperPerimeter ride, though--has he announced any dates for that?
Any thoughts on how/wen to pre-ride the entire course. I think we should break it up into 3/4 segments. We could then take the train to and from the more distant areas. Sounds like we will have the N/NW side tied up Sat.
I'm out this Saturday, but I'm down to go on the pre-ride(s)
