Hi all -

Our meeting will be on October 6th at 7 pm. If you have  a recommendation for location (ideally somewhere that isn't too noisy), please let me know!

Great news Tom! Thanks for representing us so well.

We definitely need to get more events like this under our belt. With this strong start we have some good monentum for future ones.

Once we are back another strategy meeting might be in order to look at scheduling these.

Thanks again from Alberta Canada.

Susan, Jeff & I just finished up at the Look Chicago table at the Shared Streets Evanston event.  By all measure, this was a resounding success for our Look Chicago efforts.  The street party structure of the event allowed us to have dozens of good worthwhile conversations with passersby.  The chats ranged everywhere from "Dooring?  What's dooring?" to "Dooring? Lemme tell ya about the last time I got doored...."  We were able to bring the topic of dooring to the forefront with motorists, cyclists and Evanston city officials (I spoke with at least one local alderman).  We picked up little kids off the ground who wobbled off their bikes in front of us.  The folks from Legacy Bikes hung out for a while with us and some of us took test rides on their advanced technology machines, with carbon belt drives and infinitely variable internal gear hubs.  This was a very different experience from anonymously leafletting automobile windshields (though that still has value).  Here, we were able to go one-on-one with folks from many different points of view.  If we have a chance at other venues like this, we should take it.

If any Look Chicago folks are free this Sunday afternoon (9/1/13) between noon & 5, we've got an information table at the Evanston Shared Streets ciclovia.  I'm probably the only Evanstonian among us, so I'm taking responsibility of staffing it myself and bringing a ton of spoke card/flyers to hand out.  But if anyone wants to hang out for a while, or even just stop by to say hello, I'd appreciate it.  The table is located on the north side of Dempster, just west of the Metra viaduct, next to the Turin Bikes table.  I'm desperately trying to come up with some sort of table banner with our logo on it, to make our booth somewhat less lame.  Any and all ideas are welcomed.

About 2 miles covered from Lincoln, Southport, School, Greenview and Ashland. We even saw Laura scare the bejesus out of me :)

Good times.

See everyone next weekend!
