This is the message I received from Ald. Joe Moreno last night via Facebook in response to our request to have him publicize Saturday's event:

"Brendan - Absolutely ... Great work! I'll try and make it to the event but we publicize all over.

Best

Joe"

Found the info for Saturday's Flyering...

Which flyer design won ???

Comment by Chicago Ride of Silence on February 25, 2013 at 11:15pm

What time on Saturday is the flyering?

Also - any luck at getting ROS logo added to the flyer? I was unsuccessful at contacting Becky. :-(

Great news on the BTG update! :-)

PS - a lot of opportunities exist to help Dustin - details on Chainlink homepage. I'm hoping to get over to tomorrow's shindig: http://www.thechainlink.org/events/a-benefit-for-dustin-valenta

Notes from Tonight:

Look Chicago Minutes

In attendance: Tom, Jeff, Pam, Brandon, Katie & Aaron

Flyering

We identified the optimal design. Brandon and Pam will provide edits to the flyer and we will print in time for Saturday.

Everyone be there on Saturday! We will have flyers printed and ready for use.

The more promotion for this event, the better. Brandon will contact Moreno about promoting the event; Katie will contact Waguespack. Katie will ask Chicago Conservation Corps to promote.

The next location will be based upon where dooring occurs the most often.

Alderman Outreach

Continue to contact Alderman and see if we can include verbiage in newsletters.

Break the Gridlock

Break the Gridlock has generously offered to be an umbrella organization for 501(c)3 status. All felt it would be beneficial to pursue. Our commitment is to have attendance at quarterly board meeting, tithe some of our funds if we get grant money (BTG can provide the checking account) and providing review of materials referencing their name (e.g., grant applications, etc).

Next Meeting:

  • Adding side windows to Taxi cabs – what can we do to promote?
  • Are there grants we should pursue?
  • Quiz for improving learning – review questions and raffle prize (this is an opportunity for us to engage the public) Katie will have an example.

Yellow Cab SF hooked me up with the right guy. These mirrors are a Korean product, imported and distributed by a company called Janus Cam. They are sold locally (Chicago) through Erickson Communication. City Service Taxi in Chicago is at present sniffing around making a volume buy. I've got a name and contact number for the guy at Janus Cam and the guy at City Service Taxi. It sounds like the installation of these mirrors is going to happen here in a big way regardless of whether or not Look Chicago promotes or supports it.

Hmm. Day two, Anton's not in again. I'll try again. While we're waiting, here's a link to San Francisco Bicycle Coalition educational materials. I also shot an email to the author of this article in Mission Mission.
