...and when/where is our next flyering?
Thanks!
When is our next meeting?
Had a good time plopping cards with Brendan and the post work knosh.
I believe there are sveral types of flyer spreading we can do (I stoppd at Edgebook Cycle on the way home...no drive to make it to the cinema) and left some for their pick up rack at the door.
A sign/table at a busy Metra stop (like Jefferson Park) might be a good exposure, maybe once or twice, and if Metra would OK a a banner we could get 'in the face' of drivers when they are likely NOT to be paying attention to cycle traffi around their cars...you know sorta subliminal messaging.
When is the next meeting?

The owner of Quick Release Bike Shop, Joe Hall, took some of the cards and we talked about the City's plan for an anti-dooring campaign as well as a campaign being planned by the Transportation Committee of the Wicker Park Bucktown organization. His shop is on Ashland, just south of North Avenue and he is the co-chair of the committee as well as a commissioner of the organization. The most recent minutes of the committee meeting are here: http://wickerparkbucktown.org/site/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Trans... and the anti-dooring campaign is up at the top of the agenda. The organization is a Special Service Area group, and they get funds from tax money to do things like this. He really liked Brendan's logo, BTW. ;-)
Also, I chatted for a minute with the fellow at Copenhagen Cyclery. Someone had already dropped off the cards, and he had taken time to look at them before I got there. He was about to tell me that on the cyclist side we should include something about lights when he saw that it was the first thing on the list. I mention it because maybe next time around a darker ink or something to highlight points.
To everyone who has worked so diligently on this, especially Katie and Aaron, you are the best!
Oh the cell phone and Chicago Police logo are nice touches
OK OK OK...
Nit-picking but ....
Page 1 the text under graphic in top section "by following these simple steps"....perhaps would be clearer by omitting the "these" since the steps are spread thru out the document ...or switch to "several" or "basic" or "a few simple"
Page 2 The bullet points on left as noted are out of position...one at whenever possible shouldn't be there, one at Exhaust shouldn't be there, one at in sideview mirrors shouldn't be there AND one at If you believe there is a probable chance should be moved left to be in line with the rest.
In bottom box the #'s should be in line (1 and 4 moved left) if possible give each listed information a line
and skip the blue highlighted text as in a hand out links don't work (I tried 3 times before figgering that out...OOops
Jeff
Looks really good, nice work! Don't know if this is final copy, but the 2nd "L" in "legal" seems to have disappeared in the "cyclists care" box. And obviously, the bullet point dots under "what steps can a cyclist" have gone amok. But everything else looks great!
Is there room for the ROS logo on the flier?
